Issue field not updating with new field configuration

I have pre-existing issues within a JIRA project that are not updating to the new field configuration that I have associated with the project that they sit within.  I don't really want to have to go into each issue manually and then add the additional fields manually but can't find a way to apply the changes in bulk.  Anyone have suggestions/workarounds for this?

What is the change in your new field configuration? Could you give more details?

I also am having this problem. I have added "components" and "security level" to all my screen configurations, however these two new fields do not appear in existing issues. This prevents me from bulk editing these issues to add a component/security level.
