Issue needs automatically transitioned when child issue is transitioned

I have  epic and tasks, in epics I will create tasks as child issues, and requirement is when task is transitioned from open in progress then epic needs automatic transition to in progress. I seen post function which is linked transition, which is not working. Please provide me solution for this.

I am afraid to say that you will need a plugin in order to achieve what you are looking for.

Jira out of the box doesn't offer this post-function.
