Does adding a field using the Ticket drop down box on a specific ticket (‘’Add Field’’ drop down on a specific ticket) only affect that specific ticket? Or will other tickets of the same issue type/project be affected as well?
I wanted to add a field only to specific tickets instead of all tickets of the same issue type/in the same project/JIRA portal.
Thanks for reading!

Ok, thanks. That link takes you to the admin section where you can add fields.
Fields belong to issue types in a project (or entire projects, or everything). So, no, you can't add a field to an individual issue. You have to add it to the definition of that type of issue, and then you can put data in it, or leave it empty.

What do you mean by "ticket drop down box"? I'm afraid that is too vague a phrase to tell us where you are looking.
Do you mean the "manage fields" on the issue create and edit screens that a user sees (and is for customising their view only), or are we looking at the administration area?
