JIRA Project menu items disappear and icons turn grey.

I am having a small issue using JIRA cloud, occasionally when i go into board configuration the click on go back to board the icons on the left pane disappear or grey out. Even refreshing thepage does nothing, i have to load the project again to get it to go back to normal, i have attached screen shots of the normal menu and the greyed out menu.

This doesnt happen all the time but it almost always happens on my ILS projects and

occasionally on my other projects.

Please any help will be appreciated greatly

Hi Liam,

I've tried to reproduce the error on a test instance, but everything worked as expected.
As per I could check on your screenshot, you are not using the "New Jira Experience", is that correct?
Can you please enable and test to confirm if the issue will appear?

Angélica

Thanks Angelica

I'll check if that is not the problem.

Hi Angelica

This projects had boards that are shared across multiple projects, I have noticed that it does this only with other projects that share boards too. Would you know what may be a solution to this or if it is a bug?

Thanks and Warm Regards

Hi Liam,

What is happening, in this case, is that the location of the board is set to a profile and others are set to the project, so this is an expected behaviour.
If you click on the Search (left sidebar) > Advanced search for Boards you will see the boards that are located on a project and on someone's profile.
The board that is located on a profile will show fewer options, but if you open a board that is located on a project all options on the sidebar will appear.

Angélica

Hi Angelica

As far as I can tell the boards are only located on their projects, unless they are shared between projects. I have only encountered this problem with the greying out if the board is shared with more than 1 project and I have clicked on the "Go back to board" button if I am configuring the board. I'm wondering if this is not a bug that was fixed in an update?

The only way I can get it to look normal is to click on the project drop-down and select the current project again, it doesn't work if I refresh the page, only if I reload the project.

Regards and Thanks

Hi Liam,

I found a bug that might be related to the issue you are facing.
You are actually using Jira Server and not Cloud.
Please, check the description of the bug below to see if it fits with the issue you are facing and apply the workaround to fix the issue:

Angélica

Thanks Liam. This worked for me (although doesn't solve the original issue)

i found in my case expanding the side bar and then collapsing it made the grey boxes become the proper functions

Check your board's query.  Ensure it has "project = <project key>" in there.  Without this, Jira doesn't know the project it belongs to.
