JIRA filter not allowing to save the Filter

Akash February 21, 2025

Hi All, So there is a filter that has already been created. I copy Its JQL and create na ew filter based on that. But when I save this new filter, It just doesn't save any of the pasted JQL and shows only the default JQL. Please let me know what could be the reason here.

Also, for the original filter, the Basic tab is greyed out and I get this message when I hover over it - "You can't switch to basic as the query is too complex or is invalid"

Thanks.

Hello @Akash

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Also, for the original filter, the Basic tab is greyed out and I get this message when I hover over it - "You can't switch to basic as the query is too complex or is invalid"

What is your question concerning that message? It appears self explanatory. The Basic view of filters can't be used if the underlying JQL is too complex. That particular filter can be viewed only as JQL.

Can you provide a screen image of the other issue, showing the JQL that you are trying to save?

One other thing about saving filters: you need to run the filter (click on the magnifying glass) before the save link appears.
