JIRA resolution changes back to a specific resolution even when there is no default resolution.

Eva January 3, 2019

The workflow to require the user to select a resolution before closing an issue.

A box pops up with resolution as the required field, the user picks from the drop down of custom resolution (Local Live, Global Live, Won't Do, Duplicate... etc) and then closes the issue.

The resolution that has been selected is somehow not being stored - and they're all being set as the same resolution - Local Live.

I have already check and made sure that there is no default resolution selected.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Hi @Eva

Ask your jira administrator to check the transition's post function in the workflow. I think you have a post function that always resets the resolution to 'local live'

Thanks for that @Fazila Ashraf

Do you know what the post-function is so that I can let users select a resolution?

i.e. I want to Remove the post-function that is setting the resolution to "local live", and add in a transition screen with the resolution options on it - JIRA will pop a box to let them select one.

Current post-functions:

The following will be processed after the transition occurs

  1. The Resolution of the issue will be set to Local Live.
  2. Set issue status to the linked status of the destination workflow step.
  3. Add a comment to an issue if one is entered during a transition.
  4. Update change history for an issue and store the issue in the database.
  5. Re-index an issue to keep indexes in sync with the database.
  6. Fire a Generic Event event that can be processed by the listeners.

Remove the first post-function that sets the resolution.

You already have the screen that lets the users select, it's just that one post-function that is over-writing what they select.
