JIRA traceability matrix

I am doing a trial for JIRA desktop. Is there a way I can do a traceability matrix to tie user stories/epics to test cases and results?

That is not a standard report available in JIRA as there is no default concept of "test case".  Most test management suites that integrate with jira will have some type of traceability matrix report.  Your best bet will be to also evaluate the test management suites.
