Hi,
I need some help in work flow step Linked Status configuration. Lets say I create an issue and there is a custom field radio button "Fast Track" with Yes and No option. User selects either Yes or No; No is default.
I understand the transitions and post functions and conditions and tried it. I am able to create the transition for 'Executive Approval' with a condition but the linked status is only one, which stays 'Business Review'; my requirement is when the transition button shows 'Executive : Approve Fast Track' the status should be 'Executive Approval'
Can anyone please give me some guidance here? I am in circles
Thank you in advance
with warm regards

why don't you simply create two "create" workflow steps? You could have a "Create (Business)" which is linked to the status "Business Review" and a "Create Executive" which is linked to the status "Executive Approval"?
And of course you could then setup the proper conditions based on your custom field "Fast Track" that only the corresponding options are shown.
Cheers,
Matthias.
Hi Matthias,
Thank you for your response, for a moment if I can switch to Diagram mode for our discussion, that Open grey circle can only point to one workflow step initially per my understanding, thus only one Linked status
so when Sales engineer clicks on Create an issue, selects Yes or No, both goes to first 'Business Review' status; (based on condition I am able to set 'Executive Approval' but the status is the problem statement)
is there a way I can connect Open to two create work flow steps and choose one based on a custom field value, then I can try your suggestion,
because when Sales creates, it is one creation for them but the custom field value is differentiating the work flow from there
may be I am not aware of the possibilities here, can you please explain a little more?
with warm regards

thank you for your explanations. You can have only one state as the state after someone creates an issue. Your understanding is correct here.
However, you can configure Jira to auto-transition to another state automatically which is the closest you get to have multiple "start" states.
There are multiple posts in the community about the topic, you may want to start with this one.
Cheers,
Matthias.

Hi Matthias,
Thank you, we had changed our approach and instead of Custom Field flag for Yes or No, I introduced more transitions to Request for Approval and Set the status I wanted; For now I am accepting the answer,
