JQL Query Quick Filter open issues

How do you create a JQL query quick filter on the sprint board to show only issues that are open?

What if you dont want to filter on specific projects, or that is already being done by the board filter?

Is is possible to filter tickets that are not assigned? There doesnt appear to be syntax for this

@Melissa Clark  you need just to use the correct JQL "assignee is empty".

assignee in (EMPTY) was what worked...
