Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade Jira from version 7 to the latest 8, but the italian translation is not right.

I already raised this issue for Jira 7 (Translating JIRA 7.12) and the official issue TRANS-2582 has been marked as solved, but this is not true. At the end I fixed manually the the localization package in Jira 7.

Following the official translation guide and using my account, I cannot login to create a new ticket to suggest an update.

It would be nice to include these fixes in the Atlassian source code.

This problem concering the Italian Language transaltion still persits.

For this reason I opened a bug here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/I18N-3182

Hopefully, they will tell us how Italian language native speakers can contribute to the translation and eventually get a decent official translation.

Hi @Luca Andreatta ,

I connected to translate.atlassian.net and I can see that one of my colleagues already created a ticket for this (LF-789, but since this is not on your name you won't be able to see it). 

Now, before going any further:

  1. Can you kindly provide more details on what you mean when you say that you cannot log-into the translation Customers' portal. 
    Specifically: Which url are you using? Do you already have an account but the credentials don't work or you cannot sign-up? (a screenshot of what happens when you try to log in would be useful too).
  2. Can you let us know which one of the suggested translations from TRANS-2582  have still not being addressed? 

Please let me know.

Hi Dario,

this is the message that I receive when I try to access to LF-789:

  • luca.andreatta@eng.it non dispone dell'accesso a Jira su translation.atlassian.net.

I'm trying to access using the same account that I use here.

The italian translation is not good at all, everything inside TRANS-2582 is still not translated correctly.

Also I noticed that something that were translated correctly in previous version of jira-core-language-pack-it_IT, in the latest jira-core-language-pack-it_IT-8.4.0.v20190821055000 returned to be wrong.

Ciao @Luca Andreatta ,

Instead of trying to access LF-789 directly (that most likely you don't have access to anyway), try instead the following:

  1. Navigate to the translation Service Desk url: https://translation.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/9
  2. Once there, you should be presented with the below screen:

  3. Click on the Link to sign up, in the next screen (below) provide the email address you use to log into here and click on "send link"

  4. You will then get an email with the link to sign-up. Follow the instructions in there and by doing this you should get access to the translation Service Desk.

 

Let me know if you are then able to see the Translation portal.

Can you confirm you are now able to create your requests and to see them?

If this is the case you can now proceed reporting your translation issue in there making sure to also provide the details about the translation being correct in the previous language pack and then wrong again in the latest.

For the rest, I am trying to get in touch with the team managing this SD so that we can make the already existing requests visible to all the customers (it does not make sense to me to have them visible only to the creator/reporter).

Hi @Luca Andreatta ,

I got some updates on this topic already:

 

All the concerns about the translation bugs not being visible to the customers and the service desk being locked were already known and the team is working to bring the translations bug tracking back to jira.atlassian.com (no ETA available yet).

 

Also, I have downloaded and unpacked jira-core-language-pack-it_IT-8.4.0.v20190821055000 and I can actually see that in some cases issue is translated as "segnalazione" as requested, but in other cases is translated as "problema" or not translated at all and left as "issue". I am pasing a few examples below:

I have forwarded this information to the translation team already and they are looking into this. 

 

For the rest, did you have any chance to create a bug ticket for this? Can you kindly share the issue key so that I can forward it to the team as well as add some more details in an internal comment?

Please notice that TRANS-2582 is closed since 30 October 2018.

As already mentioned, the translation team is already working on this. However, since the existing bug ticket is only visible for the reporter, I was suggesting you to create one on your name mostly to be updated when the issue is solved. 

If you don't need to be updated on this, you can just wait until the next language pack will be released.

Hi Dario, I tried to insert the bug in Atlassian Translations project, but it seems that I don't have edit permission to do it.

Hi @Luca Andreatta ,

From the provided screenshot it looks like you are still trying to create the bug using Jira and that's why it is not working.

As already mentioned, you have to use the Customers Portal (Jira Service Desk) url instead:
