Jira Cloud add external email address handler

Don.Sevcik May 1, 2020

We're trying to set up a new email handler in Jira Cloud other than the default one.

We'd like to set up an external address where tickets come in to. I'm using this link:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/creating-issues-and-comments-from-email-779288896.html

When we set up the mail handler, there's no option to configure an external address, such as (tickets@support.com) as the receiver address to create issues.

The reason why we don't want the default is because we have multiple projects under that account. So we'd want a separate handler for my team's projects.

The only option is the default cloud mail server.

Any thoughts?

Hello @Don.Sevcik

Thank you for reaching out.

In order to use other e-mail addresses than the default one when creating your e-mail handlers, you must configure additional mail servers (IMAP or POP3), just as mentioned in the documentation you provided.

That being said, we have a KB that described two possible methods that you can use to properly create issues in multiple projects you want using just one mail server in JIRA Core:

How to create issues in multiple projects using one mail server in JIRA Core

Let us know if you have any questions about the steps of the documentation.

@Petter Gonçalves - Does it have to be gmail? What about a company email?

Also, we don't have the option in our e-mail handler to choose POP/IMAP. It's only the default JIRA Cloud.

Hello @Don.Sevcik

The first method mentioned in the documentation is for Gmail, however, the second one is usable for any IMAP mail server:

Also, you must click to add POP / IMAP mail server to properly use them in your e-mail Handler, just like mentioned before:
