Why Jira Data Center is more powerful than Jira Server with cheaper pricing?
What's the difference between Jira data center and server?
@KinPlease note that the pricing of Jira Data Center is yearly. Whereas the pricing for Jira Server is perpetual.
Thanks for your reply @Deepanshu Natani , we want to figure out what's the difference between Jira Server and Data Center and why the pricing of Jira Data Center is cheaper than Jira Server but have a more powerful function?
As you said, Jira Data Center is yearly, however, Jira Server is also yearly either, when the server license was expired, we need to renew the license as well, otherwise, we can't use the application anymore, right?
So we don't quite understand what's the difference between them.
For now, the activity users in our Jira system are almost over 500 limited users and the application gets more and more slowly when many people using it at the same time, so we want to make a load balance for it. I have googled some answers that said Jira server can not support load balance but data center can, I'm confused.
Could you please give me some suggestions?
Thanks

@Kin,
Regarding the pricing,
Price of 500 users Jira server license is USD 40,000.
Server licenses entitle you to perpetual use, and include 12 months maintenance (updates/support) starting from the date of purchase.
Renewing maintenance is entirely optional. You can continue using Jira server in absence of active support but you will not be able to upgrade it to new versions in that case.
Price for renewing the support is approx USD 30,000 per year.
When it comes to data center,
Price of 500 users Jira data center license is USD 20,400 per year
Data Center is offered on an annual term license that includes updates and support as long as your term license is active. Data Center licenses expire and are not perpetual like server licenses. So once your license expire after one year, you will not be able to use Jira Data Center till the time you pay again.
