Jira JQL question about field error

When I tried to use custom field filter issues, the specific field showed this error. I want to know why this happened. Some of issues of this project have this field with values, but the project doesn't have this field on any screen. Is this the reason? When I tried to search User Story Type is not empty, it showed several issues of this project.

Hi @Jason Liu 

I believe this can happen if the field has some context set for it - for example, via the field configuration (show/hide), or a field context (eg. visible only on certain Issue Types).

Does this field have limits set by field configuration / field context?

There is a suggestion to enhance this in Basic Search - vote for/watch JRASERVER-40738 

The workaround is to just use Advanced Search - which shouldn't have this limitation.
