I am using Jira Software Could version

Start date and Due date are set as default delivery fields.
When a Start date and Due date is entered, how do you get the bar to automatically appear?
When a Start date and Due date is edited, how do you get the bar to automatically update?
At present is appears the dates in the bar don't synchronise with any of the actual date fields.
just to confirm, re delivery fields, have you gone to the plans config settings and set the fields you want to use as start and end dates in the plan?

I don't think there is a solution for this.
Like many screens in Jira they do not automatically sync with the underlying data. This would be quite difficult to implement. And has the potential to cause performance issues.
There is the option of using dashboard widgets to update and show when there is activity in the tickets.

Hi Becci,
I am from Jira Advanced Roadmaps team, as Tom mentioned the plan does not automatically sync with the ticket updates outside of the plan while it is open.
When a plan gets opened it collects all the included issues with their latest values and then applies the scenario data. If an issue start/due date gets updated on another page (e.g. backlog) while the plan is open, then you need to refresh/reload it to apply the update.
If you don't see the new values even after refreshing, then it might be because there are scenario changes in your plan that override them.
Regards,
Sara

Hi @Sara Hekmat thanks for jumping in.
Our issue is nothing to do with dates syncing, we can refresh/F5 the page to load them.
This question here is why the bars aren't appearing, nor updating based on the date fields.
As user has to manually put them in and they don't sync/update.
We are not using any Scenarios.

@Sara Hekmat the point is that non of the bars are appearing, not after a page refresh, not even with the diagonal lines. Is this not a defect?

@becciwa have you checked the plan Scheduling settings to ensure that the correct date fields are configured?

yes, the dates have the D on them.
It doesn't work for any of the date fields, irrespective of which ones are chosen.

I cannot think of any other scenarios. I suggest contacting Atlassian support through https://support.atlassian.com/contact/. The Support Engineers will be able to look closely at your plan and assist with the issue.

I've just seen your comment about the dates having D on the columns i.e. are the schedule dates.
I've tried the same on my plan. If I edit the issue and change the schedule dates, then refresh then it reflects on the bar.
As long as the dates are within the view range. But even then it has an arrow button to shift to that period.
No more ideas :-(
