Hi all,
I am personalising the Request form and Issue view form Fields. But the system is not allowing me anymore to add the Fields in the Issue view without removing them from the request view. As a result the data we are asking for is not showing in the issue. This is not the case for all fields (thankfully) and I was wondering if anyone has any tips.
P.S. It worked for a short time, for one test, and that is.
Thanks
It is true that fields on the Request Form get automatically included in the issue view. However, the problem is that the fields are arbitrarily positioned in the page and we have no control over where it appears on the issue view. So in trying to place the field where it needs to be (by dragging and dropping using the "Issue View" tab), the field gets automatically removed from the "Request Form" tab.
We should be able to control where the field is positioned just like when using the "Layout" option in Jira Software. Is there a feature request for that? (in my humble opinion, this is more of a design flaw than a feature request thou)
This just started happening to me, was there a solve here?

If any field added to the "Request form" is automatically added to the "issue view", why does automation throw error for those fields not available for 'edit' action -
"Unknown fields set during edit, they may be unavailable for the project/type. Check your custom field configuration. Fields ignored"

Is there a solution already?

Hello @Petya
Thank you for reaching out.
Per your description, I understand that you can only add some fields to your internal issue view when you remove them from your portal view. Is that correct?
If that's the case, please provide us with the following information:
Thanks!

1. Custom fields that i have created.
2. Once i add the custom fields to the Issue View they automatically get removed from the "Request Form" and vice versa. If i had the custom fields to "Issue View" they get removed from the "Request Form" view

Hello @Aaron Collins
After some time of testing and checking the behavior you mentioned, I saw that the custom fields "disappear" from the Issue view tab at the request type menu once they are added to the "Request form", however, this behavior does not truly impact your issue view.
In other words, if you add the field to the "Request form" tab and open any issues in your Jira site, you will see that the custom field is properly displayed in both the internal issue view and portal view.
The reason that the field disappears from the "Issue view" tab is because any field added to the "Request form" is automatically added to the "issue view", so there is no reason to display it twice in both tabs - Although this logic does not seem to apply to default system fields.
You can see a disclaimer that explains this behavior in the top description of any request type:
Basically, you'll have the following results depending on your settings:

Hey, i'm having a similar issue here too
I have created screens with tabs and this reflects on the issue view,
However if I was to add this in the request form panel and then create an issue, the tabs disappear and it becomes one long list
Also when making the fields mandatory via the field config scheme, the fields are then defaulted onto the request form. - i did try adding validators, but there are no asterisk next to the required fields making it a bad user experience.
Are these bugs?
These both cause issues as users want tabs when they view the issue in Jira itself(not the portal)

Hey @Ronnie Wan
Per your description, I understand that when you add a field to the "Request form", it gets removed from the tabs you created in the internal issue view. Is that correct?
There is a public bug created to properly change this behavior:
Fields in the tabs get moved to the General tab
Regarding the displaying of the asterisk in required fields, we have a feature request to implement this in the customer portal as well:
ServiceDesk Customer Portal field: Required field displays red asterisks

Thanks @Petter Gonçalves , I didn't know there were tickets already created for this!
The required fields ticket was raised in 2014, are there any plans to get this done? It should be an easy fix - compared to other tickets I've seen,
Hopefully it gets resolved soon :)
