Jira Server app requires 8.3?

Jira Server app (which is still beta or preview i guess) has updated today and now it says our Jira Server 8.2 is not supported. And it says we should update to 8.3. But Jira 8.3 is not out yet. The help article says that you need 8.1+ though. I have updated Mobile Plugin on the server.

So, upgrading Jira and installing mobile plugin, all for nothing, when after an app update you are cut off. I know, this is beta and all, but i wish i didn't invest so much time into making it work, to have it broken now.

Thanks for the link. Will remove the app and stick to web version on mobile then. As bad as it is, it is to susceptible to such breaking updates..

Hey there,

First of all I want to say thank you for helping test out the Jira Server mobile app. We've made a lot of improvements in the 1.0 release of the app thanks to feedback submitted by folks using it - if you submitted feedback, you had a direct impact on the features and feel of the 1.0 release.

Secondly, apologies for the unclear nature of our documentation. The app was listed as early access / beta in our documentation, but I can see that this wasn't super apparent and you weren't the only one to miss that small bit of text. We'll try to improve this in the future and make sure it's apparent when you're on an early access release that might have breaking changes.

It's mentioned in the linked thread but Jira 8.3 is just around the corner. Due to a lot of backend changes in the final implementation of the app, we weren't able to make it backwards compatible with 8.0/8.1/8.2. Upgrading to Jira Server 8.3 (when it is released) will be needed to continue using the app once it's updated. If you're able to dismiss the app update (or potentially roll back from a backup, varies per phone) you should be able to continue using it against Jira 8.0/8.1/8.2. And if not, Jira 8.3 will be available soon.

Cheers,
Daniel

It seems Jira Server 8.3 has released, and I installed it today. Then I found the following Mobile Plugin for Jira is only supporting up to 8.2.4?

I was aware that the app is in its beta state. I just don't find it feasible for our very small team to spend time updating the server every time compatibility breaks. And it's even not a next major version of a server. Actually, I don't even need the app, if only web version wouldn't be so annoying on mobile. Btw, mobile web version would avoid breaking updates situation.
