Jira Service Desk (Jira Core 8.12)- How do I hide issue types based on groups?

Deepali February 26, 2021

How do I hide issue types based on groups?

I have 4 Issue types.  I want to make 3 issue types visible to few groups and 1 issue type specifically to one group.  How do I achieve this?   Looking for an easy solution.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Deepali

Hi Deepali,

You'll likely need a marketplace app, like https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212161/extension-for-jira-service-management to do this for you.

This allows you to easily configure changes in the portal view to show/hide request types from the customer.

Cheers, Jimmy

Hi, you can also use another app, Feature Bundle

You can control visibility of request types based on groups membership, project roles, customer profile language, JQL result and more.

@Deepali

You can use issue security to hide or show issue types on a project.  You will need to apply the same issue security scheme across all projects that you want to hide issue types on. https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/configuring-issue-level-security-938847117.html

Thanks Brant.  I will check it.

Issue security may be your answer, but be aware it only applies during/after issue creation. If you want to hide request types before they're created, e.g. in service desk portal, then issue security won't be helpful for your situation.
