Hi,
I am new to Jira Software and would like to be able to generate reports that I can export out on all projects with some basic status details and at a project level with more detailed status metrics that I can use to update my management who doesn't have nor wants/needs access to Jira. I found a community forum post about the easyBI add-on but wanted to start out simple. Is there nothing built into Jira?
Thanks,
McLean
Hi @McLean!
Yes, eazyBI is a powerful add-on for Jira Server and Jira Cloud, providing easy-to-use drag-and-drop creation of custom reports, charts, and dashboard gadgets. With eazyBI you can visualize and analyze your Project data on various levels using many chart types. See an example Project overview dashboard in our Demo account.
If you are interested in investigating more about eazyBI, please note that eazyBI allows sharing reports to users who do not have Jira access, see https://docs.eazybi.com/eazybijira/publish-reports/embedded-iframe-visible-to-non-jira-users.
Let me know if you have further questions about eazyBI!

Hi David,
Really appreciate the help. For a little background, I work at an academic institution in a mixed business and technology team so trying to make our use of Jira work within an existing culture and infrastructure which takes time to adjust. While I understand our needs aren't probably typical I guess I am surprised there isn't a more robust reporting capability in Jira or the need of one by the broader Jira community given how data driven everything is now. Do you know if this is on the roadmap?
Thanks again.
McLean

Hi McLean,
Jira projects are not projects in a strict sense, they're just containers of issues with rules on how to treat those issues.
However, you can go to the Marketplace to find solutions. You have mentioned eazyBI, and that's a great resource but it's somewhat difficult to configure and won't give you project-level metrics.
One alternative is to use Profields (disclosure: Profields is a product of DEISER, my employer) to store project-related information, then use the project navigator to see at a glance where your projects stand.
Have a look and don't hesitate to ask for support if needed! We'll be glad to help

This is Lauma from eazyBI, and I would like to add to your comment about eazyBI. I agree that eazyBI requires a configuration that might be too much for just a couple of reports, but it does allow creating Project level metrics based on issue information, as well as sharing those reports to non-Jira users.
In eazyBI demo account, you can take a look on Project overview dashboard that contains project level reports (they are just some examples, almost all reports could be created in project level): https://eazybi.com/accounts/1000/dashboards/5942-project-overview

Hi @Lauma Cīrule!
Thanks for your input. At DEISER we love eazyBI for its flexibility. In fact, we often recommend integrating eazyBI for reporting and Profields as the source of data for things such as project priority, status, budget, etc. There is an out of the box integration that customers can benefit from
If you do that you can go over the project level and reach the cross-project level, which top managers love.
