Jira Subscription Project Manager Role

I have set up a subscription to a filter for a project that I manage. In the project properties i am listed in the project manager role. However I am not receiving the emails as I should. Is there a permissions scheme that I have to edit ? Do i have to be added to a special group or is the Project Role sufficient?

Hi,

Project role should not impact on the subscription. Do you own the subscription ? Who are the recepients ? Check if outgoing mail is enabled. Maybe attach a screenshot of the subscription configuration.

I am the subscriber and the recipients should be those i put in the manager role in my project. However the project managers do not get an email unless i go into the admin settings groups and add them to the Project Manager group.

When the subscription ask for the recipients i selected the Project Managers in the drop down list. 

I added the proper people to the Project manager role in the project and did a test run. No email was sent.

I then went into the admin section (I am the admin) and added the members to the Project Manager Group. Ran a test run and everyone got the email. In order to use subscriptions like this, do we have to set up separate groups ? What do we do when we use this for multiple projects and we dont want all the project managers in the group to see project emails from projects they do not manage.

If I add them to the project Manager group then the subscription works fine. but if they are not in the group then they do not get the email.

You summed it up perfectly, you cannot set a subscription per project role, unfortunately. You can only subscribe groups. So you are bound to manage groups according to your subscriptions...

I would suggest you to vote for https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-16864 to encourage to its development (one can dream...).
