2. Which version of Java do we need ?

3. Where do i need to set JVM heap size?

Some versions are.  The variant of RedHat/Ubuntu etc does not matter too much, the important thing is whether it is a supported platform for Java.  Not Jira, but the Java you need.

So, check the supported Java version for the Jira you are going to use, and make sure that runs on your target OS.  Look for "supported platforms" in the docs.

JVM heap size is set in the setenv.sh
