Jira fails to change the project key

Anybody else seeing this problem?

I want to change the project key. Old key = UI. New key = VISIBILITY.

1. I go to Project settings/Details/Key.
2. I change the project key to "VISIBILITY." See screenshot.
3. The project key is not updated. See screenshot.

Looks like a bug to me. Or am I not doing it right?

Did you reindex the project after changing the project if no then I would say please go ahead and reindex the project for the changes to take effect.

Or in you case I think you will have to reindex the entire Jira instance for this change to take place.

Thank you! but Jira Cloud doesn't have indexing.

Do you have any other ideas? I'm especially puzzled because I have successfully changed the key on other projects. It worked before on other projects, but doesn't work on this one! The mystery deepens...

To follow up: it's fixed now! I didn't do anything more. Maybe Jira is just super slow? Changing the project key should not take six hours for a project with 40 stories, no history, and no links... and yet, somehow, it did.
