Help! I have a problem where a user can't see all of the filters when using Chrome. I tried the same URL in in Chrome and Edge and they don't list all of the filters as shown in Firefox.
What am I missing?
I'm not sure why but it appears to be an issue with the user not being logged in. I'm wondering why they were able to see a partial list if not logged in.
It sounds like the issue might be browser-specific. Chrome may be holding onto old data that affects how Jira displays content. Clear the cache and try again. Also, some extensions, especially ad blockers or privacy tools, can interfere with Jira's display. Try disabling them or using Incognito mode to see if the issue persists.
If certain filters aren’t visible for specific users, it might be a permissions issue. Verify that the user has access to all necessary filters, and sometimes, Chrome’s hardware acceleration can cause display issues. Try turning it off in Chrome's settings under Advanced -> System -> Use hardware acceleration when available.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issue.
@Jeffrey Wolfe you are correct in the assumption of stale data with the user who brought this to my attention. Weirdly I got the exact same "stale data" view by copying the same URL into both Edge and Chrome and I don't use either browser routinely so I can't say for sure that is the problem. I'm also not sure just how old that data would be.
I also logged in as the user in Firefox incognito mode and got the correct view that way so I'm pretty certain that would have worked for incognito in the other browsers as well.
I'm still a bit baffled at why it would display anything at all w/o the user being logged in.

Hi Danno,
That's very strange. Can you share some screenshots?
Also, have you tried incognito/private mode with Chrome and Edge to see if there is a difference?

Hi @John Funk as I just mentioned in my reply to Jeffrey, I did log in as the user in incognito mode in Firefox and saw the correct list. I stumbled onto the log-in as being the issue when I got the same view in Chrome and Edge as what the user shared with me. I got suspicious of browser settings and noticed the log in symbol in the upper right of both browsers [→ and got what I expected after logging in.
This all started when I shared a link to a filter and the user got the you don't have permission message. Logging in as the user gave me the correct view. I sent her a direct link to the filter and got the limited list view. If I can re-create it I'll post a screenshot.

@John Funk yes, the direct link had the filter id for the specific one I was trying to share. That passed back the access denied message.
At that point I had the user select Filters > View all filters drop-down which gave the limited list of filters. I don't remember what the entire URL was at that point but I had the user trim it down to this:
https://<my site>.atlassian.net/jira/filters
and got the same limited list. I took that URL and tried it in both Chrome and Edge and got the same thing back. That's when I found out I needed to Log in through each of those browsers to get the correct filter list.
I tried recreating the limited view but I no longer get the same thing. I believe Win11 probably keeps you logged in until you log out of everything and shut down or restart so I'll have to try it again later or tomorrow.
