Hello
Does anyone know of problems with Jira (8.11 in our case) installed on a Windows Server 2016 10.0 ?
Description of the problem on this instance :
Our project has a transition screen that uses dynamic forms (5.0.7).
When executing the transition with Microsoft edge or IE, nothing happens (the dynamic forms fields react well but Jira doesn't react when clicking the transition button).
Same action executes well when using the edge chromium browser on the same instance and also with edge/ IE on a jira instance installed on a Windows Server 2012 R2 6.3
Does anyone has a clue what might be causing this issue ?
Thanks in advance.
Geert
Hi Geert,
Internet Explorer is not a supported browser anymore:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver0811/supported-platforms-1019391065.html
Microsoft Edge works for the latest versions - officially - but there also have been reports in Community around that it caused trouble from time to time. The specific cases and resolutions for it were always somewhat tricky to catch. It has always been very sporadic.
If you mean that Jira is installed on a Windows Server (but you are not browsing from the very same server, which is not recommended as per security considerations) that is not the cause of your problems.
In other words: I assume you refer to the Windows Server just as the host which Jira is installed on - that is fine.
Browsing Jira will surely take place from a laptop or PC.
Cheers,
Daniel
Hi Daniel
Thanks for your answer.
Indeed browsing takes place from laptop/PC.
But I think something must be different with this jira instance because we see this error and we don't see that on our other Jira instance...so maybe you could shed your light on this ?

From the outside it is very hard to catch. Earlier you mentioned it is (only?) happening with Dynamic Forms - at least for the Microsoft browsers.
Probably if this is correctly understood the best would be to interview their support if they have spotted like this in the past.

Tanks for you swift response Daniel.
Well, that's what we first thought. But now it seems that it is the case once you try to make a transition on any random issue of any random project. The weird thing is that, when you first logon to that Jira instance you can create issues but from the moment you initiate a transition nothing seems to work anymore because of the above error.
One bullet left. We have a similar test instance (same configuration) but without the dynamic forms installed yet and working correctly. So we could :
- just install dynamic forms on that instance
- check if everything is working correctly
- if not : ??
- if yes, add a dynamic forms custom field and define project that makes use of it
- again check if everything is still working correctly
To be continued I would say.
Kind regards
Geert

As long as everything is working correctly without the Dynamic Forms App I would concentrate on this one.
Not to exclude that it is somehow specific to your instance but this is something the vendor should work out with out.
The most important difference will be if the problems arise also without activated Apps in cases like this. If all is fine without Apps I would always concentrate on debugging the App installation (most times together with the vendor).
