Jira new issue view - how to add emojis in description?

On the new issue view, emojis are not showing anymore and I cannot see any way to add them.

The Jira new issue view is still on a beta-version, which means that some functionalities are still missing over there.

The emojis option is one of this features that is not available for now.
There is a feature request suggesting the implementation of this drop-down menu in the new issue view:

Thanks - I have voted for the issue - however the reporter states that emojis can be added by manually typing the characters but I have found that this is not correct.
