Jira performance on system has Symantec installed.

Is there any proven performance test that Jira performs slower with Symantec? What would be the best method to show that Symantec is slowing down the performance of Jira?

Hello Bob,

the performance limitation depends on which protection features (e.g. Firewall, Intrusion Prevention, SONAR) are enabled in the SEP client. Also the SEP version installed on the server plays a role.

Basically, Symantec always recommends activating all security features, which makes sense with a client, but should only be done on a server after extensive testing.

The question is now which security features are activated on the affected server. Can you find out which features are enabled?

Hi, Bob.

According to our official documentation regarding this subject, specifically about Symantec, it seems to cause dramatic performance degradation even when the service is turned off, so apparently, there is no workaround for that.

Thank you @Suren Raj

Is there any any Jira performance test result with Symantec and without Symantec? What I am trying to do is I would like to prepare presentation to IT department managers to get an approval to uninstall Symantec from Jira Server As you might have guessed the company IT policy requires every computers and servers to have Symantec installed. I need a proof/fact that Symantec should be uninstalled.

Thanks.
