Jira re-indexing stuck

EOS Hungary August 23, 2021

Hi everyone,

after updating Jira Software to 8.14.1 (Build number 814002), re-indexing does not finish. It is stuck at 88% for weeks now could not be canceled since it says it is being canceled. Also  for some reason, the Re-indexing menu shows 2 Jira Indexing operation.

What are the correct steps to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Peter

Hello @EOS Hungary

I think that maybe you need to increate the memory of your server.

Best regards.

Hi @Juan José Marchal Gómez !

I can try and increase the memory to see if it will resolve the problem.

Do I just simply shut down the Jira service and configure the setenv.sh with more memory?

Thanks!

Peter

Hello,

You should increase setenv.sh but keep care with the server memory also.

What is your server memory?

What is your current setenv.sh assignation?

Is the server only for Jira?

Best regards!

EOS Hungary August 25, 2021

Hi,

the server is only for Jira and Confluence, Jira has 4GB and Confluence has 2GB memory assigned to them. The server has 42 GB memory.

Best regards,

Peter

If the server has 42GB.

Set setenv.sh 16GB for Jira (should be enough for confirm this problem).

set min and max 16GB.

Best regards.

Thanks, I'll try it tomorrow late afternoon.

After increasing the memory, should I delete the index caches or the memory increase should fix this?

Thanks!

Peter

Hello,

first check doesn't remove nothing and try to reindex in background if it's possible.

If fails, try can try full reindex. When you try full reindex if something fails your Jira will not start so this is critical...

Removing index cache from server is similar as full reindex I think so, is critical.

Do you have support?

best regards.
