Jira startup failed after UPM plugin updated

Gabor Szinyei September 21, 2021

Hi,

As routine maintenance, I did updated all plugins where update was available.

The last one was UPM itself which had an update.

I did run that which ended up crashing the entire Jira. Since then the whole application is unable to startup.

I'm getting the following message

System plugins failed to start: We haven't been able to start all the required system plugins

We couldn't start the following plugins:

  • Jira Projects Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-projects-plugin)
  • Atlassian Jira - Plugins - Project Config Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-project-config-plugin)
  • Gadget Directory Plugin (com.atlassian.gadgets.directory)
  • Atlassian Jira - Plugins - Gadgets Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.gadgets)
  • Atlassian Jira - Plugins - Global Issue Navigator (com.atlassian.jira.jira-issue-nav-plugin)
  • Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - Quick Edit Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-quick-edit-plugin)
  • Atlassian Jira - Plugins - REST Plugin (com.atlassian.jira.rest

Do you have a recommendation on how to fix that?

Thanks in advance

Gabor

Hi @Gabor Szinyei If you can check the logs for possible errors which could give you some insight if not you can remove the old UPM jar file from the Jira Home directory which should be somewhere /var/atlassian/application-data/jira/plugins.installed-plugins

Remove the old jar file and download the one from below link with respect to your Jira version and start the Jira,
