Hi @Roja Gurram ,

If I understand correctly "invoice number" must be a custom filed which is marked required in your create issue screen in JIRA. If that is the case you can mart the same optional under field configuration https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/specifying-field-behavior-861253403.html.

Thanks,

Bibek

Hi Bibek,

Yes, "invoice number" is a custom field.

But my question is through mail handler we can create a Jira ticket based on the "Subject Line of the Email" or any Invoice number.

To create a ticket in Jira is Invoice number is needed? I don't have knowledge on this.

Customer requested an "Is it possible to create/enter a Jira ticket without an INVOICE NUMBER".

Yes @Roja Gurram ,

That is exactly what might be happening, may be the below exercise will make more sense.

In your JIRA screen try to create the same issue type in the project when the ticket gets logged when a customer sends a request.  You can see which are the mandatory fields (INVOICE NUMBER)JIRA accepts  for creating the issue. Based on the same you can alter your field configuration.

Bibek

Thank you again for your quick response!

"INVOICE NUMBER" is mandatory field in my Jira.

So,  i understand that after filling the Mandatory fields in MAIL HANDLER then only a ticket will be logged into JIra whatever the fields we have filled in MAIL HANDLER  same will log  in Jira. Am i right Bibek ?

Please correct me if i understood wrongly. After i will update to customer.

@Roja Gurram ,

Hmm there is a twist to it, if the custom field is of any specific type it will expect same kind of data. for example if that is pick list with option A and B, you can not simply pass C as input. I hope the above helps, if yes you can always accept the answer for the others to know.

Thank you! Sure.

Custom field "INVOICE NUMBER" type is Text Field (Single Line ).
