Kanban board ranking according to Advanced Roadmaps relationships

Hi

A colleague wants his kanban board to contain 2 issuetypes which are both in our Advanced Roadmaps/Plans/Portfolio hierarchy at the upper levels (above Epic-Story-subtask).

He wants the Child issues to be ranked based on the rank of the Parents. So if Parent A is ranked above Parent B, the children of Parent A will appear above Parent B and its children.

Swimlanes don't have an option like Parent, otherwise this would have worked. And it's not practical to create a new JQL Query swimlane for each parent.

I considered ordering the filter by Rank, Parent Link - but ordering by Parent Link is not possible.

Suggestions welcome, thanks!

Hi @Julia Foden,

What you're describing is how ranking worked in the Live Plans interface. However, we changed it for the newer interface as a result of customer feedback. The majority of people were unhappy that the previous ranking behaviour would have a lot of unexpected results for peoples boards (which is why we changed it so that all ranking is done independently of parent).

We did at one point consider making this a configurable option, but this is currently not on our roadmap to do in the near future.
