Link to parent automation after converting from subtask

Does anyone know of a rule that would automatically link a converted task (from a subtask) to it's parent?

Hi @Amanda Coughlin -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

At least for Automation for Jira (A4J) rules, this is not possible yet.  There are several open defects/suggestions related to move to/from sub-task are not apparently detected by the API as issue updates (and so do not appear in the changelog accessible by automation).  Here are the issues if you want to review/watch them:

Hi Nikoleta,

To work around this, i've been linking all the issues manually and then converting the subtasks to issues. That has been a sufficient workaround for our organization.

I don't think there is a resolution yet.

I might be missing something so let me see if I understand the ask. You convert a sub-task to a task. The sub-task had a parent, obviously, and you want the newly created task to be linked to the sub-task's original parent. Is that correct?

@John Funk Yes that is correct. Otherwise I have to go through and individually link each converted subtask.
