Hi,
Hi. I have created a story and created 5 sub tasks under it. So, when I add efforts to those sub tasks, does the original estimation field of the parent story get updated with the sum of the efforts of the sub tasks?
For an example -
I am creating a parent story as "X", and adding 5 sub tasks with below efforts
x.1 - 2h
x.2 - 4h
x.3 - 2h
x.4 - 1h
x.5 - 6h
So, after adding these efforts to sub tasks, will the original estimation field of the parent task get updated as 15h?
Cheers,
Hansi
I am using Jira Server (v8.5) and this does work. There is a checkbox on the Story under the Time Tracking section to "Include sub-tasks". See screenshot:
Hi Pete,
Thanks a lot for getting back to me. I am using the cloud version, I couldn't find "Include Sub Tasks" check box in time tracking section. Is there any specific way to set-up jira cloud version to add effort of sub tasks to parent story? Really appreciate your support on this
Cheers,
Hansi

Apparently it's a bug in the "New Issue View". See here:

But you should be able to switch the new view off:
