Looking for ideas to manage dependencies and risks in Jira Software

We are migrating away from Jira Align :( to a different PPM tool that better fits the PMO for our organization.  Our Agile teams (using the SAFe framework) rely heavily on dependency and risk management options in Jira Align and we will not have that in the new tool.

We're familiar with using links, etc. but we're curious about how others manage these in Jira.  For example, do you have an issue type for Dependency or Risks?  Do you use a custom field?  Is there an add-on application?

Pretty generic question and really just looking for ideas to use Jira Software to replace the functionality in Jira Align for these two items.
