Make closed issues go back to hidden - Business project

I accidentally ran an automation yesterday that commented on 1000 items. After that, new issues would show up on the board for a second, and then disappear. I can view them in all issues though. Just now I realized our closed column was showing almost 1000 issues. After 14 days in closed I believe Jira auto archives issues. The comments on the issues though seems to have brought them to the front. Is there a way to get those to go back to a hidden state? Our board is borderline unusable now.

I am currently working with Jira support because we thought it was a much deeper issue. Just asking here to try and get a quick answer.

consider the following...

1. create a jql to find them all
2. bulk edit and add a unique 1-time label
3. edit the board filter or sub-filter to exclude those w/ the label
