I am looking for the ability to amend Jira notifications for a single user (assignee) based on the changes made. For example, if somebody adds a comment to the task then the assignee will be notified but if somebody adds a fix version then the assigne will not be notified.
Would this be possible?
Not out of the box. The notification scheme has an option for comments, but not fix version. That would be covered by the issue updated notification.
Is the notification scheme per user or per group? If it was per user, I would be happy to disable issue updated notifications for a specific user. I only came across the global/group notification scheme where any changes would apply to all users which is not really what I want to do.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Unless you want it to become unmanageable, project roles, groups(I don't like groups it can become more like a shotgun notification), assignee, reporter, and watchers are assigned the notification. Trying to assign users to the scheme would quickly become unmanageable. The only filter for users is they can turn off notifications for updates they make in their profile. I set the default for that to NO when setting up JIRA because most people don't want notifications for updates they make.

Right. I see what you mean and it does make sense. It'd be nice if the user themselves could change what notifications they want to receieve and which they don't which would overide the global/group scheme. After some research I can see that is not possible.
Anyhow, thanks for your help and clarification on this.
