We initially started using JIRA using the JIRA internal directory but moved over to Internal AD. We now have a set of duplicate accounts with different usernames (JIRA directory is using full e-mail address as the username while internal AD is using their network login which differs)

Would it be possible to merge the JIRA internal directory accounts with the AD so just the AD users are left? Or would the only option be to completely remove the JIRA internal directory accounts?

Hi Ryan,

It's possible, but not trivial. Since merging users is not currently supported, you will find some workarounds. It seems you're looking to merge the users because there is content ownership associate with both usernames. If your issue is duplicity only, and one of the users created no content, I'd say the path would be more straightforward by renaming the users, syncing and reordering your directories.

Have a look at the article How to merge two users' content ownership and permissions in Jira. This should shed some light on what you're looking for. Please, first backup your system and perform this in a test environment.

Cheers.
