Migrate between projects - service project meaning

nir.g September 29, 2021

HI
I plan to move one of our teams jira project from "team managed". to " company managed"  using this post: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/migrate-between-next-gen-and-classic-projects/

One question please, what is the cause, and meaning to create a " service project"

Thanks in advance.

N.

What is the type of the project you are migrating - Work Management (a.k.a. Business), Software, or Service Management? It will say at the top of the navigation pane on the left, below the project name.

The page you are referencing is for migrating Service Management projects. Service Management is the Jira product that gives you functionality for managing projects that are designed for a help desk team, where you would have "customers" submitting tickets and "agents" resolving tickets.

If you are trying to migrate a Software project, refer to this page instead

@Trudy Claspill  - Thank you very much for your detailed answer!

Now all's clear.

I didn't noticed for the page reference to service management type.
