My company is planning on moving from Jira Server to Data Center soon. Currently we are on version 7.13 for Jira Server. If we want to migrate to version 8.13 of the Data Center, do we need to first upgrade our server to 8.13, or is it okay to go from an older version of Server to a newer version of Data Center?

It's ok to do either, but I would recommend upgrade first, as later versions of Jira are easier to convert from Server to DC.  (You can pretty much just apply a DC licence to your Server, and you have a DC install with only one node in the cluster)

Thank you for this. After reading so many articles and Confluence pages, I got an idea of what could be done but not a solid answer.
