Migrating to a Team Managed Project - Error and Issues not showing new project board

pedro.o May 18, 2022

Hello,

I have two questions for you all!

I created a new Team Managed Project and started the migration over. Before I started the migration, I edited the workflow and statuses so it closely matches the old company managed project.

I mapped everything during the migration and ran it. It got through about 30 issues (out of 224) before it gave me an error. Error says to check the logs, which logs are these? I'm on cloud.

Second question is for the issues that went over, I don't see them on the board. When I go to configure board, I see this:boardconfig.png

On the board I get this:

Board.png

Not sure how I get them to show up?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @pedro.o

I can maybe help if you give a bit more information. Where are you migrating from and to? Are you using Jira Migration Assistant? And what is the reason you are moving form a company managed to a team managed project?

Thank you

Thank you for your reply Danielle!

I am using this guide here to migrate:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/migrate-between-team-managed-and-company-managed-projects/

I'm following the instructions under the section titled "Find and move your existing issues to your new project".

The reason for the move is one of my users wants to "Create a placeholder template when users create a story" She referred me to this community post:

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-can-I-create-an-User-Story-template-in-Jira/qaq-p/1011870

Thank you!

Thank you for the info. So you're moving the issues in bulk from one project to another.

You may not have the right permissions, though I don't think that is the case. However, do check, do you have the Make Bulk Changes global permission and the Move Issues permission in your company managed project? Do  you have Administrator access in the team managed project?

You will find the logs in the System settings, in Audit Log in the sidebar.

If you want to see what issues did go over to the TM project, do a JQL search for the project's issues. It may be that the status was not mapped over which is why they are not showing on the board

Thank you again Danielle! I have admin permissions on both the project and the site, including the Make Bulk Changes.

As for the logs, I don't see any errors for the move. It's not there at all. Am I missing something obvious here? I made a successful move and that's not listed there either....it only lists things like editing fields, workflows, etc.

As for the statuses, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I created two statuses that were missing from the new project and mapped all the statuses in the old project to the ones in the new project during the bulk move. As you can see it shows in the board config pic that there are issues matching the statuses I mapped. But I don't know how to get them to appear on the board. I see the issues mapped to the correct status.

Do you have Scrum features enabled?

Have a look in your Backlog view - your issues may be in the Backlog in the right statuses and will need to be moved up to the Board section to show on your board

Also, this may explain about the logs: how to check the JIRA logs in JIRA-Cloud (atlassian.com)

Thank you Danielle,

That explains the Jira log issue.

As for the backlog section. I don't even have that as an option on the left hand side!

Can you show what options you do have on the left hand menu? Maybe try enabling your backlog: Project Settings/Features/Backlog
