Migration query

Jayaram Radhakrishnan March 4, 2022

Hello,

I'm currently running jira v6.3.12 on ubuntu 14.04 with 100 users. This is hosted in our datacenter . I'm planning jira server to server migration

I need your advise to migrate this version to latest stable supported version on RHEL8 server. Current jira license is expired since 2017.

I'm planning to intergrate the service desk feature also in the new release. So kindly let me know your views

Thanks

Jay

Hi @Jayaram Radhakrishnan

You currently have server and it is expired since 2017?

I'm afraid that i have to tell you that Atlassian stopped with the server offering.

Only existing customers can extend their license until februari 2024. If your license is expired since 2017 i'm not sure you will be able to extend it.

Service management is the same story, you will not be able to get a server license anymore.

The only 2 options you have is migrating to datacenter or cloud.

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave.

Please advise the cost and challenges for migrating this service to a datacenter license for less than 100 users.

If we take the license, will you able to help with migrating our service to datacenter. Also please share what are the prerequisite for doing this migration

If you want to migrate to datacenter with Jira software it is at least 500 users.

The list price would be 42000$ for 500 users each year

With cloud you can have 100 users and the price would be 7500$ for standard and 14500 for premium each year. (2 months free)

In cloud however you can pay per user per month and the price would be 7.5$ for standard and 14.5$ for premium per user per month.

See following pages with all the details (at the top, you can switch between Cloud and datacenter prices)

Jira software pricing

Jira Service management pricing

To be honest, i would use the cloud version if i where you as it would be a lot cheaper and you don't need to worry about upgrades and security anymore.

Have a look at the links i shared and let me know what you are thinking.

Hi Dave,

I agree no that. But my current plan is to migrate the current setup to our datacenter on RHEL8 server.

We will purchase the license for this.

Please provide the path how to upgrade the current version with safe procedure

Thanks

Jay

Whether you agree or not, Atlassian is not selling the server licenses anymore.

And as i said, you can only migrate to Datacenter license or Cloud.

Atlassian Server end of life information

This means that upgrading and adding servicedesk is not possible with a server license.
