Multiple Teams, Single Project

Hi, I have 4 teams working on single project. Few questions:

1. How do I setup active sprint for each team?

2. How can I create team names?

3. Is parallel sprint feature allowing different sprint durations?

JIRA allows you to set up multiple overlapping sprints, with independent sprint lengths.

Assuming you are not trying to assign the same story to several parallel sprints, you can use labels to distinguish which teams backlog the story falls within and you would then plan and bring these stories into a sprint as normal.

Thanks Paul, it seems the caveat of not having the velocity charts available for the teams is an issue.

Is there a way to have a single project with multiple teams (will have their own user stories/spikes anyway) and not use a parallel sprint?

Do you mean a single velocity chart for the combined teams? If so you can use tagging to be able to filter stories in the backlog and/or sprint to view a single 'team'.

Planning work for one of the teams would be more challenging though as the burn down/velocity/etc. would be for a group of teams and if they plan independently the story points may not be reflective between teams (which is normal).

If it is the case that everyone plans and sizes together, moving freely between stories across different 'teams' you may be better looking at the concept of components in JIRA to help track the work?
