Currently in our JIRA set-up, we have a ticket type called "Task". This ticket type has its owned workflow.
I have a new set of projects for which we need to use the same ticket type as "Task", but with a different workflow.
When I was trying to create a new ticket type called "Task" for these new set of projects, it didn't let me to create it saying there is an already created ticket type with the same name, so I created a new one called "Tasks" and added the new workflow in to it. Then I created a new issue type schema and added it to this new set of projects.
But, now I badly wanted to rename the newly created ticket type as "Task" (instead of keeping it as "Tasks"), but it still gives me the error saying I can't rename it becuase there is another ticket type with the same name.
Can someone guide me on how to change the "Tasks" tocket thpe to "Task" for my new set of projects and still have the newly created workflow for this ticket type only for these newly created projects?
You can't have two issue types with the same name in Jira, in the sense that you can't create two identical but different entities of work (e.g. I have a work that's need to be done called "Plant". You can't create a new work called "Plant", because you have already defined that piece of work!).
Having said that, in you case I would:
If you are new to jira, I would suggest to try it on a test project before implementing it on your live projects.
Hye Alex,
Thank you so much for this! It worked perfectly for us.
Cheers,
Hansi
