Need to search and replace IT Team name on queries

Edgardo Honda January 28, 2022

I am changing the name of an IT Team on my Jira Project.  I know that Jira automatically changes the IT Team names in the Jira items.

Are the Jira queries used by Scrum/Kanban boards and dashboard also updated?  If not is there a way to search and replace the IT Team name in queries?

Please provide the steps/instructions on how to find and replace values on queries.

Thanks.

HI @Edgardo Honda ,

Likely they are not updated. you will need to search and update them manually. There isn't a straight forward way to search them in UI. You can search for the name of queries in the UI but would not be helpful since your case is to search JQL queries itself.

Thanks you Ben for your quick reply.  I understand.

Perhaps short of actually Jira doing a bulk search and replace, which can cause more harm than good, it will be good to be able to have a search that provides a list of queries to them manually change.  This will help avoid missing queries.

Most Welcome. Every filter has an owner and sometimes those filters are private. So, its better to notify the team when this change has happen. Then the owners themselves can make the appropriate change to their own filters.

You maybe able to query around the DB to find what you need but wouldn't recommend this.

Thanks Ben for your reply.

I still think that there is no harm and a big benefit to have the ability to search and list queries for IT Teams.  Such resulting list should have the name of the queries, URL link and the names of the owners to follow up with them as you suggest.

To limit the impact of such search it should be limited by Jira Project.

Can this be something to be considered for a near future release?

Thanks,

Edgardo.
