I am new to Jira and I spent the last week setting up a Project for my small business. I invited one of my employees to Jira (she created a profile) and I added her to my project. However, when she tries to view the project (Kanban boards), it is showing as private. I have triple checked the permissions on issues and project roles but nothing is helping. What do I need to do to change this so she can view/edit the Kanban board? I am on my free trial with Jira Software Cloud and will be purchasing a license for it, but I want to ensure there isn't any major issues.
You need to ensure that the Kanban board is shared. Go to the board and in the top right click on the ellipses and board settings. On the general page you should see a edit filter shares.
Any reason why something working yesterday will stop working again for the same "user not able to see it since its showing project as Private".

Supplementing @Jack Brickey's answer above, you can normally get away with sharing to the project instead of to the user/group; sharing to the project allows all who can access the project to view the board, where sharing to a user/group would later require more than normal sharing attention.
