I closed the previous sprints but even after that I am not able to see anything in the Velocity chart. What could be the reason ?
I seem to recall that this chart won't show anything until "x" sprints but can't recall the number. How many sprints have been completed? I assume the Sprint report is displaying data for all sprints? Has the workflow defining the board changed at any point?
We have completed 2 sprints. No, I am not able to see any data in the Sprint report as well. Didn't change the workflow, but added a Post function "Resolution" with the closed status in the workflow.

Oh...Well then that is your issue. You won't get any results from these reports if you're not using them properly. These reports are based on estimations and results. When you estimate your sprint and then you execute to it there is a delta of what you committed versus what you delivered on. Overtime across many sprints your teams velocity becomes apparent. Your estimations can be in story points or time-based which ever suits your team best. What I typically do for my software projects is to use story points for estimation but I also use time based for Time Tracking.

So You are trying to say that I need to enable story points for all issue types so as to have the results visible in the Velocity chart and sprint report. But what about those sprints which are closed now, isn't there any work-around for it ?

No there's no way to go back and include estimations and completed work on closed sprints.

@enrichsalon Just curious, How are you committing stories for a sprint? I mean what's the basis on which you say that we can do e.g. 5 stories in the sprint.

we have project plan created right during the start of the project and basis that we create the stories and task in any particular sprint
