Not all active issues (epics) showing in board view

Romina Khatami March 14, 2025

I'm the owner of a JWM Business-Managed Project with around 200 active epics. They are visible in the summary and the list view, but the board view only shows 130 of them.

I know that done issues get moved from the board after some time, but these nonvisible issues are all in to-do or in progress. Even if I create a new epic on the board, it disappears after a bit. There aren't any active filters on the board.

I don't see other configuration options for the board view, neither in the project settings nor in the jira overall settings (projects, issues, ...) and I'm an overall administrator. There are only the spare options on the board itself (customize showing workflow, fields in cards, period to archive).

Am I missing something? Or does it seem to be a bug to you all?
I'd be happy to hear your opinion.

Hi Romina - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Having 200 active Epics on a board sounds very unmanageable to me. Maybe that is the bug ;-)

See this article on how to create a second board for your JWM project. It would be based on a Jira software board and would be more flexible/customizable.

Hi John, thanks for the quick (welcome) answer!

I totally agree regarding managability. It's the use case we have with a very big customer anyway and there is need for this kind of holistic documentation. I just wanted to make sure, if I am missing something out.

Thanks for the linked article, I didn't know about this feature yet! I think it will help. I will set it up and hope the colleagues will use it :)

Have a great weekend!

You are very welcome. And just a side note for projects that big you should always use a Jira Software Company-managed project. That will give you the most power and flexibility.

You have a great weekend as well!
