Old bug aligned with old plan can't add to new plan

Jennifer Baum January 23, 2023

I have a pretty old bug that was aligned with a old sprint but was never completed in sprint and has just been hanging around.

I have since created a new plan with a new board (using Kanban for all our bugs now) and I can't get the bug to be visible in the Kanban backlog.

I have been successful with all the other issue items and I am wondering if its because this bug was in a sprint that belongs to a different plan.

How can I get it to be visible in the new plans backlog?

Hi @Jennifer Baum,

Your plan retrieves its issues from the issue source that you define for it. You can check what that source is by navigating to plan settings > issue sources as a first step. You will probably find one or more boards, projects and/or filters there.

Also, in the same area of your plan settings, check exclusion rules and removed issues. There might be a specific exclusion listed there.

Next, check out the sources you see listed there and make sure that this bug is visible there. If that's not the case, either adjust the filter so the bug pops up or move the old bug to a project so it appears in the issue source. As soon as your bug shows up here, it should also appear in your plan.

If you still don't see it, make sure it is not listed at the bottom of your scope view under issues without epics. Maybe the issue is there, but hidden from view since it is not properly added to the hierarchy.

If you're still not there yet: do you see other bugs in your plan? If not, have a look at the overall hierarchy configuration of Advanced Roadmaps. Make sure the issuetype Bug is available as an issuetype in the hierarchy.

And finally, check if there is no filter in your plan's scope view accidentally hiding the bug.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout

FYI- I have a plan & board that I am using for the 'sprint' work.  I can get this bug to show up here but I don't want it here but using your steps above, it shows up.

The problem is I have a separate plan & board for Kanban work.  I checked some of the configuration etc but I can't get this bug to show up on the Kanban board.  I has the correct label, other bugs show up as expected.  The only thing I can think of is that this particular bug was assigned to a sprint that has since completed.

Could it be because it has a sprint value that it won't show on a kanban board?  I just want to remove any link to a sprint but not sure how to do that or if it will even fix the problem.

I guess if worse comes to worse, I just clone the bug?

@Walter Buggenhout  - I was able to fix it with the information in this article

Thanks!
