I use jira datacenter and Tempo Timesheets I would like to find out if there is a way to report the sum of the estimated time of each issue dependent on the epic so that the epic is "of the duration" of the total time of the sum of all the tickets that are linked.
Hi @[deleted] ,
A year or so ago, I used automation with math expressions to update time on Epic whenever the time changes on one of its child issues. It would look at the time change in the child and then edit the epic to reflect the change.
The rule was triggered whenever the time for the child issue was changed, and then a branch did the actions on the parent.
This article explains math expression in automation.
I remember it took a while to tweak that rule until it worked consistently, but in the end, it was very robust.
I hope this proves useful for your specific situation!
@Diogo Teles thank you for your reply, my orientation to solve it is this. Can you by any chance show me the rule or export it so I can import it into my jira and try it out ?

I found it, and it is a lot simpler than I remembered! Also a lot older. The only math expression used was for a simple conversion.
Detail on creating variable
Detail of action
