How does the built-in Atlassian created vs. resolved gadget work, it shows that we resolve more issues then are created a day,  Screenshot 2025-08-20 141936.png

however in Jira custom reports and Power BI is shows that we never resolve more tickets then are created, Screenshot 2025-08-20 142317.png I have gotten it to work in Power BI but now have the issue of date slicers breaking the graph, this is what it should look like, Screenshot 2025-08-20 142558.png

and this is what it looks loke with a date slicer, Screenshot 2025-08-20 142714.png

how do I set up a created vs resolved graph in Power BI that works with date slicers and shows the true count of tickets created and resolved in a day (like the gadget), I have attached an example Power BI report so you can see what I am doing, I am querying the database directly, and would like to not use any plugins

Hi @Blair Zagata,

Welcome to the Atlassian Commnity.

In the Atlassian documentation (see https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/use-dashboard-gadgets/) you can see that the gadget "displays a difference chart of the work items created vs resolved over a given period".

So, for a given day/week, it shows the number of issues reported on that day/week plus the number of issues resolved on that day/week, which may include issues reported in the past, not necessarily just issues reported on that week! Therefore, it is possible that there are more issues resolved than reported for a day/week.

Would you expect a cumulative chart for reported vs resolved? Something like this?

I'm not familiar with Power BI, but, if you consider using other app, you can get a chart like this by using our Great Gadgets app. See https://community.atlassian.com/forums/App-Central-articles/A-powerful-Reported-vs-Done-chart-for-Jira-dashboards/ba-p/2610902?utm_source=atlcomm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=kudos_article&utm_content=topic
