Hi Jira Community!
I have a question about how the Kanban board and timeline are connected.
Our team used to have one Kanban board and one timeline for one project.(A)
But now, since we have different projects(B)(C), we added two more Kanban boards—one for each project. We expected to have only one timeline, so we created all issues not only for project A but also B and C (including epics, stories, and tasks) on the original timeline.
However, now we see more than one timeline, and the timeline changes depending on which Kanban board we select. Because of this, we are thinking about using multiple Kanban boards for each project.
So, I have a question:
Is it possible to move some issues to a different timeline? I couldn’t find where to do this.
It would be really helpful if someone could help! :)
Hi @光野 かおる,
You indicated with your question that you are on a premium plan. If so, you can create a plan (formerly known as an advanced roadmap) where you can add your different projects or kanban boards as multiple sources to that plan. There, you will be able to see a consolidated timeline across the various sources you add to the plan.
The timelime associated with a board in Jira itself is restricted to a single project. As long as your kanban board is displaying data of a single project, the timeline will display that one project's data. You can update the board filter to include data from multiple projects, but at that point the associated timeline will no longer work and you'll need a plan to display the timeline.
Hope this helps!
Hi @Walter Buggenhout
Thank you for responding !

-> I understand what you mean but still there are some question Ive got here.
The timelinea associated with two kanban board that I recently made don't display any issues that are displayed on a timeline connected to the first kanban bord.
Although these three kanban board are included in one project, it seems every timeline look different each other.

Thank you for expaining but I dont need the issues from other prjects to be included in the timeline. I want to move some issues that exist in one timeline to another timeline.
The first pic is showing all kanbanboards that I have in the project and the second and third pics are two timeline that are connected to the different kanban board.
i hopr it makes sense !
Thank you !

It does make sense, @光野 かおる. Your timeline is associated to your board and - as such - the work items contained in it.
It looks as if the first board (your second screenshot from your last comment) has a filter behind it that excludes your epics. The timeline requires epics to visualise the timeline.
The last board clearly does contain epics and so the timeline is properly represented.
Rest assured, you're looking at the same data. The board (and timeline) are just visualisations of the items in the underlying project. But the board filters can significantly impact that visualisation.

@Walter Buggenhout
Thank you for your help.
I understand what you explained.
Do you have any idea of how I can make the issues dispayed on third picture display in the timeline on second picture ?

Navigate to the board settings of both boards and compare the board filters of both boards. Compare them and try to understand the difference. Have a look to find out why your epics may not be included in the board your second timeline is associated with.
Look at Board Settings > Details and look for the board filter there:
