Question re JIRA reports

what if I would like to search for the total amount of tasks that have been raised for the week. Out of those tasks identify the total amount that have been closed, are still in progress and are on hold or missed due date .  

How is this possible?

Run a search for the issues you want to report on (e.g. "created > startOfWeek()" ), and save it with a sensible name.

Now go to your dashboard and add a "filter statistic" gadget, selecting your saved filter, and "status" as the field to look at, and I suspect you should check the "show resolved issues" option too.

You can do much the same for "missed due date"
